Hello! Welcome to my very first, and maybe most important blog!

WHAT is a niche? A niche is defined as, "A position or activity that particularly suits somebody's talents and personality or that somebody can make his or her own." (urbandictionary.com).

WHAT does this mean? This means that we all have different talents, passions, interests, education, and experience. As consumers it is our responsibility to research who we hire for certain jobs. For example, let's say I need a heart checkup. Can my gynecologist do it? Probably. But would I hire her to check my heart? No. Why? That isn't her Niche! (Sorry, best example I had!)

MY NICHE: Abstract Cake Art. It isn't perfect smooth. I love textures. I enjoy designing art with chocolate and candy. I love the usage of flowers or objects giving a 3d effect. I like to create cakes that you can be sure no one else has!

Niches for other bakers might be fondant art, cake stacking, or cookie art. The list is endless. Perfectly forming fondant figures is a beautiful art! Cake stacking several cake tiers perfectly tall is definitely a talent and cookie art requires massive amounts of patience! (I don't have that, by the way).

How do I discover a baker's niche? I research the cake artist, I ask them questions, I send them the style I want. And I communicate <<<clearly>>> my expectations in writing! #communicationiskey

I know the other bakers in my area. I will gladly send you to a baker that matches your order! This is why it is important to start this research WAY before the cake is due!

We both want a beautiful and tasty end result. The alternative results in us both frustrated. Me binging on Netflix and Cookie Dough, out of invested time and money and you celebrating a special occasion without a cake you LOVE.

Simply,

Sarah
